 We are located in the beautiful Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon. Where we would like to welcome you to our little slice of nature's heaven in beautiful Bates Oregon where we have been serving the Grant County area since 2000. Although our building was built in 1959 and housed a store, gas pump, garage, cafe and a full service bar. At that time Bates was a up and running milltown. Come on in and relax with great food and hospitality at our full service bar or sit at a table and enjoy the atmosphere.

We serve only the finest U.S. Choice ribeye steaks and best burgers around, oh and we can't forget to mention our Chicken Fried steak! We serve Blue Bunny ice cream, hand dipped shakes and warm blackberry cobbler ala mode are just a few of our tasty tempting treats.

Our stunning mahogany bar was built in Chicago in 1864, coming around the horn and coming to rest here at the Austin House in 1959 after spending some time in Sumpter, Oregon first.  Enjoy the atmosphere on a chilly day by sitting by our stone fireplace with a hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa as you enjoy the beauty of our surroundings and our antique bar.

Travelers, bikers, hunters, snowmobilers, and firefighters are invited to stop in, grab a snack from our country store and shop our quaint gift shop which we have Leanin tree cards, huckleberry treats and gifts. Also, those in need of gasoline are able to purchase that here too.
